What is the age range for participants for archery birthday parties & workshops?
At an Archery for Everyone workshop or event we welcome children from the age of 5 up. With very young children we ask for parental supervision or an adult to be present throughout the workshop or party. There is no upper age limit for participants in keeping with our aim of making this a sport that can be enjoyed by everyone.
Where are you based?
We are a mobile archery company. That means we travel to your chosen location with all the equipment to run the workshop or party. This can be at your own home (providing you have a big enough space) or in a venue hired by you (at your own cost). We travel throughout Northern Ireland.
Who leads the session & are they qualified?
Your session will be lead by David Thompson a fully qualified and certified instructor (for the last 6 years) with the governing body Archery GB. Regular assessments are carried out to keep the operating licence up to date and valid. David is also an experienced outdoor activity instructor and has 'on the ground' experience of working with groups of all ages and abilities.
Are you Insured?
Yes. We are insured as an instructor through Archery GB but we also have our own public liability insurance (A copy of this can be provided should you wish to see it)
What do you provide & what do I need to provide?
We bring all the equipment needed to run the workshop or party with us. All of our equipment is of the highest standard and is checked regularly after each workshop and again before the next one. The equipment is cleaned both during and after every session to keep up a high standard of hygiene.
Your obligation is to provide a suitable venue for your workshop to be held. This can either be at your own home (space providing) or at a venue chosen, hired and paid for by you. We also require you to provide at least 3 photos of the venue so that a risk assessment can be carried out prior to the session. This is to pre-empt any issues with health and safety and so we can make sure we are carrying the correct safety equipment.
How much space is required?
The minimum size of space required is 10 metres x 10 metres. If the venue is an irregular shape or you would like to send us a few photos to check it is suitable, you are more than welcome to do so.
Is it Safe?
We have to remember that this is fully fledged archery equipment not a toy. But if used correctly and as instructed to do so, it is safe for all involved. In order to ensure the safety of everyone we carry out a risk assessment prior to the session (this will either be an on-site visit depending on distance, or you will be asked to provide photos and/or a video). This will flag up any issues and we will work to resolve them in the safest way possible. Safety equipment is used during the session and a safety briefing is given to all participants before we start. Reminders are also given throughout the session. For this reason we ask there be at least one adult present for any groups with children and young people under the age of 18. For very young children parental supervision is advised.
Safeguarding / Child Protection
David has taken training with Sports N.I on all aspects of safeguarding and child protection. However, we do ask that at least one adult be present with children and young people below the age of 18. With vulnerable groups we would ask you to use your discretion on adult supervision to suit the needs of your individual group to ensure that they all get the most out of their archery experience. We realise that everyone's circumstances are different and we are happy to be guided by you as one size doesn't always fit all.
How do I book?
Booking is very simple. You can contact us using the contact form on the website or email archeryforeveryoneni@gmail.com. If you have a particular date in mind, please include that so we can check availability for you. We will send you a booking form which should be completed in as much detail as possible. Once we receive that and your deposit we will confirm your booking via email.
We have children or adults with special needs, can you still offer us a session?
Archery for Everyone was set up as the name suggests to make this a sport for everyone to enjoy regardless of ability. We are able to adapt both the equipment and the session to take into account the needs of the participants. If you would like to discuss this before booking them please get in contact and we will be happy to help. If you wish to go ahead with your booking, it is extremely helpful for us when planning your session if you can put as much detail on the booking form as possible.
